In my era, public school systems recognized the benefits of a “healthy mind in a healthy body”. Kids got off of their dead asses and were physically active. When our military called, there were enough qualified persons fit to protect our country. Currently, only the Marine Corps recruits enough persons each year. The leading causes for rejection, in no particular order, are: having a criminal record, failure to pass the drug abuse screening, gross obesity, not having the minimum basic education. Consequently, America has a serious national security failure.
