AKA: Military Industrial Complex
A perfect example of “the tail wagging the dog”.
President Eisenhower, in his “Farewell To The Nation” speech, coined the term “Military Industrial Complex”. He told us that the relationship between our military, industry, and congress was necessary for a free and strong nation. He also said that we needed to keep a sharp eye opened to prevent just what we have now. Runaway defense spending.
Public education requirements were established by the communities they served, not by untouchable, far away bureaucrats, school boards and teachers’ unions heavily influenced by our communist enemies.
In my era, public school systems recognized the benefits of a “healthy mind in a healthy body”. Kids got off of their dead asses and were physically active. When our military called, there were enough qualified persons fit to protect our country. Currently, only the Marine Corps consistently recruits enough persons each year. Semper Fi!
The leading causes for rejection, in no particular order, are: having a criminal record, failure to pass the drug abuse screening, gross obesity, not having the minimum basic education.
Consequently, America has a serious national security failure.
